At Karatay Counseling, I rely on attachment and person-centered approaches. These theories focus most highly on the therapeutic relationship. The literature repeatedly shows that a positive relationship between therapist and client is the strongest predictor of positive experience and outcome (Lambert & Barley, 2001).
We incorporate evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) into work with clients when useful and appropriate. The integration of CBT and DBT with an attachment approach provides a structure that meets clients on both practical and personal levels.
We understand trauma and the effect it has on an individual holistically. Trauma affects all aspects of a person from their physiological, somatic well-being to emotional and cognitive experiences. While working with trauma, we incorporate a neurological and somatic understanding of trauma alongside more traditional therapeutic approaches, which focus on the cognitive and emotional experiences.
How much does it cost?
We charge $90 for a 50-minute individual session and $120 for a 90-minute session. We also offer several sliding scale (reduced fee) appointments for individuals experiencing financial difficulty.
We accept only credit cards, debit cards, and HSA. You will be asked to provide payment information upon booking an initial appointment. We will bill that card for all of your subsequent appointments. If there is a reason you do not wish to pay via card, please contact us, and we may be able to work something out.
Do you take insurance?
We currently do not bill insurance. However, if you are interested in using insurance to pay for therapy, we assist in collecting Out-of-Network reimbursement. Contact your insurer to see if your plan has out-of-network benefits that cover therapy.
How does scheduling work?
When you click on the scheduling tab, you will be taken to the client portal. There you will be asked to choose a 50 minute appointment time, and provide some necessary information about yourself (including a billable credit/debit/HSA card). After you have submitted your request for an appointment, you will receive an email invitation to set up your client portal further. There you will be asked to complete an intake assessment form as well as review and sign several documents about confidentiality and scope of service. Once you have completed the required documents, your appointment will be confirmed. After that, all that is left is to show up!
We require 24-hour notice for cancellations, or you will be expected to pay the full amount for your scheduled session. You can cancel your appointment by calling or via email. If it is past the 24-hour mark and you are experiencing some emergency, please contact us directly.
