Hi, I am Melissa Karatay.

If you are thinking about scheduling an appointment with me, I imagine you are wondering who I am and what makes me qualified to be your therapist.

Here is a little bit about my education and occupational qualifications: I have a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University Seattle, and I am licensed in the state of Washington as an LMHC. I did my undergraduate work at the University of California at Davis and graduated with degrees in Psychology and English Literature. I have a wide range of professional experience in the mental health field going back to 2010. I have worked with many different populations over that time: young to old, and chronic to acute. I have provided long-term therapy as well as worked on crisis lines providing crisis management services.

Who am I as a counselor?

At Karatay Counseling, I provide weekly counseling sessions. I am interested in working with individuals who are seeking to understand and integrate a traumatic past. I also offer services to individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, loss, adjustment issues, and trauma.

I incorporate intersectional feminist thoughts as well as cultural and racial awareness into my practice. As a practitioner and as an individual, I strive to understand the systems in which we all exist and how they have impacted an individual’s experiences and mental health.
