As we move through life, we all have experiences that shape the way we tell our story. Trauma, loss, oppression, discrimination, abuse, depression, anxiety, and so many other things can alter the way we understand ourselves. These experiences can shape what we expect from the world, what we believe we are capable of, how we experience intimate relationships and friendship, and what we think we deserve.
Sometimes these stories, these ways of understanding the world and ourselves, become things that hold us back. Therapy is a place to begin understanding the 'why' and 'how' of the ways we move through the world to address what is not working and begin to change.
